Despite being a few hours away from me, for some of the rarer or more popular beers, Vermont might as well be in another time zone. Anything from Lawson’s Finest Liquids seems hard to come by in many retail establishments – at least those I’ve visited – while brewery-only Hill Farmstead (from what friends have told me) requires hours of waiting and lines. I’ve been through the state several times recently but never can line my schedule up with Heady Topper releases.
Otter Creek came to the rescue with this delicious, well-hopped IIPA brewed in partnership with Lawson’s. The hops are plentiful though not overly bitter, trending more on the heavy citrus side. There’s plenty of malt to balance it out, though I felt like the beer was very drinkable for 8.5%. This beer is easily my new favorite OCB offering. It was my first experience with anything from Lawson’s and I hope it won’t be my last.
