Shipyard Brewing – Smashed Blueberry

This was a curious one. There’s all kinds of blueberry going on, and it’s the real blueberry you’d expect from Maine, not the fake blueberry “artificial flavor” nonsense you find in mass-produced crap. There’s a very good beer in there somewhere but I feel like you have to hit the perfect serving temperature/range. Too cold and it winds up being somewhat bitter. Too warm and unwanted flavors start showing up. It’s not bad, just complex in a wrong sort of way. Still, I recommend it as a solid example of a blueberry beer. Just make sure you’ve got it in the 40-50 F range. (89/100 on Beer Advocate)
